Building a Servant Leader: Curiosity As we embark on our next Leadership Academy with Physician Life Care Planning, we have started building our model of a servant leader. Within this, we have a set of common core elements, that we call "Bullseye" words. We articulate the importance of each, where they emanate from (our thinking, our feelings, our actions), and then clearly define what they mean to us as a leader. Curiosity is a fundamental element of anything growth related. As a servant leader, our focus has to be on growth - for ourselves and for others. Growth is not possible without, first, a curious mind. Curiosity is what gets us started down any path and creates a HUMBLE mindset; we don't know it all and there is growth to still occur. Servant leaders are always growing and looking to meet the needs of others. How do we do that if we aren't curious about those we influence and what they need for their growth? Next week we'll discuss the second Bullseye word as we outline the model.
